In 1937, Saab Svenska Aeroplan Aktien Bolaget was founded. The aircraft manufacturer presented its first automobile in 1947: the Saab 92001. Above all, the turbo technology, with which the Saab 99 was one of the first series-produced cars in the world, had a significant impact on the brand. General Motors (GM) had acquired all shares in the Swedish car manufacturer by the end of 2000.
