In 1910 the Società Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili (A.L.F.A.) was founded in Milan.Five years later, the engineer Nicola Romeo took over the company, which was called Alfa Romeo from 1920 onwards.In the 1930s, Alfa built legendary racing cars.Later, technically complex and elegant cars such as the Giulia and the Spider were developed.However, there was no great economic success and in 1986 Fiat (later Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, “FCA”) bought the brand.After the merger of PSA (Peugeot Société Anonyme) and FCA in 2021, Alfa Romeo is one of the premium brands within the Stellantis Group.
